DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Contribute in the formulation and review of Ministry and national network policies and procedures.
•Responsible for ICT governance and formal controls over IT infrastructure.
•Oversee the updating of ICT Governance Framework.
•Ensure compliance with Government wide policy guidelines and requirements and advise on technology trends, direction and best practices.
•Manage the design, implementation and review of network infrastructure, network installations and configurations of computer hardware operating systems.
•Manage the provision of network support to end-users through analysis, research, evaluation, development and integration of applications.
•Co-ordinate maintenance and monitoring of the LAN/WAN infrastructure, internet, switches and routers.
•Manage the provision of an efficient, secure, and reliable network infrastructure that meets data requirements of internal clients and Line Ministries.
•Oversee troubleshooting of network problems and diagnosis and resolving of faults.
•Co-ordinate network projects and produce reports in line with critical path.
•Plan and maintain work systems, procedures and policies that enable and encourage ICTs research and innovation.
•Manage the development of a supportive and enabling infrastructure to ensure equitable access to ICTs by all citizens including the disadvantaged groups and rural communities.
•Supervise and appraise subordinates.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

•A degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or Business Informatics or Computer Engineering or equivalent qualification.
•A higher degree would be an added advantage.
•Possession of a relevant certification in ICT industry, experience in configurations and CISCO routers and switches, Network Administration working knowledge would be a distinct advantage.
•Eight (8) or more years of progressive IT experience.

In addition to the above, applicants must possess the following:
1. At least 5 ‘O’Levels Including English Language. Science and Mathematics with Grade C or better.
2. Three traceable references.
