Job Summary
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Zimbabwean citizens to fill the undermentioned position. Reporting to the Works and Building Services Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling the activities of the Fire Section throughout the railway system to achieve fire safety.

TRAINEE FIRE PROTECTION ASSISTANT:
WORKSAND BUILDING SERVICES SECTION : BULAWAYO

Duties And Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:-
1.Planning and implementing fire safety and emergency preparedness, fire equipment maintenance schedules and conducting fire prevention demonstrations and drills.
2.Identifying fire hazards, high loss areas, high risk times and victims, to enhance
loss control and reduce liability. litigation costs and loss of life and property. 3.Developing and recommending implementation of fire disaster preparedness
procedures.
4.Conducting fire investigations for direct and indirect loss analysis and prevention purposes.
5.Compiling fire reports to Supervisor highlighting findings on the investigations and making recommendations thereof on remedial action for adoption and
implementation.
6.Recommending technical specification for fire contracts and liaising with Contractors to ensure that work is done to specifications.
7.Recommending adequate fire safety modifications relative to proposed new use of buildings or plants.

Qualifications And Experience
Applicants for the post must :-

a) Have at least five GCE ‘0’ Level passes at Grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics.
b) Have Level three Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Certificate.
c) Be prepared to attain a Level 3 IFE Diploma within three years failure to which the incumbent will remain as a Junior Fire Protection Assistant until
such time
that he obtains the requisite qualification.
d) Posses a valid Zimbabwe Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
