Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of Programme Specialist Institutional Strengthening, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

Provide support towards preparations for the launch of Safe Market Project;
Support private sector engagement;
Assist with programme procurement processes;
Support in editing and revision of reports, briefs, and other documents as needed;
Support in additional tasks and projects, as required;
Efficient filing/ documentation of project documents, work plans, progress reports, budgets and other implementation documents.

Demonstrate commitment to UN Women ‘s mission, vision and values;
Knowledge in institutional strengthening strategies and programming;
Interest on development work and roles/responsibilities of development agencies;
Written analysis of programming works and its results;
Demonstrated report writing and computer literacy skills;
Workshop and meeting reports;
Draft workplan and concept notes.

Understand the mandate and working areas of UN Women and the UN system;
Acquire knowledge and practical experience about issues related to gender equality and the empowerment of women;
Strengthen analytical research skills
Exposure to the working environment of a UN Organization;
Acquire teamwork skills in a multicultural environment.

Qualifications And Experience

A university degree in Business Studies, Marketing, Law, Gender Studies, Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences;
Demonstrated interest in the area of gender equality, women’s human rights and the work of international human rights mechanisms;
Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
