Senior Technical Lead (Harare) – Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Programs, the job holder is responsible for providing technical and management oversight on all the technical areas identified in our Country Strategy 2020-2024 which are Sexual and Reproductive Health; Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Transformative Child Protection Program and Inclusive Quality Education.
Leads the integration and layering of program strategies across the thematic areas to ensure holistic and effective programming development and delivery
Line management and capacity development of the Country Office program technical team; including all thematic leads and advisors.
A member of Country Leadership Team (CLT) and advises the Program Leadership Team (PLT) on program technical initiatives.
Representation of Plan, its work and its values to the authorities, country forums/networks, consultative sessions, or conferences as appropriate
Facilitate the roll-out and implementation of Plan International’s programming standards as indicated in the Global Approach to Program and Influencing.
Contribute to informed decisions made by the CLT on the technical aspects of program strategy, implementation and monitoring.
Coordinate and support in country program thematic networks for continuous learning and improvement.
Child Protection & gender equality mainstreaming
Promotes and abides by Plan policies and procedures including but not limited to: Gender equality mainstreaming, Child Protection Policy; Code of Conduct and the related mandatory reporting responsibilities.
A Master’s Degree in a relevant Social Sciences field or Development Studies
At least 3-5 years working experience in development work at program management level
Proven record of successes in program development and proposal writing
Understanding of integrated development issues and policy influencing strategies and approaches
Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to Plan International’s programming.
Excellent networking and partnership building skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Demonstrated writing skills (report writing, strategy documents, proposal and concept paper writing)
Proven skills in the development and management of effective and motivated teams
Strong strategic thinking and interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrates clear respect to all and especially children without discrimination
Strongly drives performance in the area of responsibility with the team
Develops, motivates, coaches and manages program technical team
Promotes innovation and learning
